Here at BIG TOM we monitor driving test pass rates closely, both our own and also the driving test centres that we use.
There are a number of driving test centres in the vicinity of BIG TOM driving training. The breakdown of pass rates as of April – June 2017 (the latest figures at the time of writing) are as follows:
Boston 53.9%
Grantham 49.5%
Kings Lynn 46.1%
Lincoln 50.6%
Melton Mowbray 56.4%
Peterborough 51.1%
It should be noted that the early signs of the new driving test indicate as per the DVSA research undertaken prior to switching the driving test format, there is likely to be something like a 10% increase in the pass rate statistics. As can be seen by the above there is a 10% swing or variant just between the test centres listed, and that swing can be quite dramatically different when a comparison is made of ALL driving test centres across the UK. So what you can conclude from this is that where you take your driving test does alter the probability of passing. Here at BIG TOM we like to look at it slightly differently though. By asking our customers what kind of driving they are likely to be doing after they pass, we can adapt the training to suit the customers’ needs. It is not uncommon for BIG TOM customers to gain experience driving in a variety of locations in which case, where they then go take their driving test is not actually overly important. This is one of the advantages of the BIG TOM Intensive Driving Course, the structure of the training sessions does have in-built flexibility to allow customers to drive in more locations than a standard pay as you go 1 hour driving lesson.
