Lottie from Folkingham passed her driving test this morning on her first attempt after completing the BIG TOM “All-inclusive” intensive driving course. This course comes with an automatic 10% discount for beginners.
She chose a schedule for the driving training that spanned over a 3-month period using a mixture of weekdays and weekends: a very good example of the flexibility and choice that our courses offer. Remember that the DVSA tell us the average time to pass a driving test is 7 months, so even by spreading her intensive course the way Lottie did, even starting as an absolute beginner, she has still got her full driving licence in less than half the time of the average.
Her driving test consisted of the reverse parallel park, an emergency stop, some country village driving, as well as driving on national speed limit roads. She said after her test how beneficial the BIG TOM mock test was to help her raise her standards. She passed her driving test having committed just one fault.
Her driving instructor, Tom Ingram said “I’m very pleased for Lottie. The DVSA contacted us the day before her test was due, saying they had to cancel due to the examiner being unavailable, but we still managed to get her in for a driving test the next day. Once again, Lottie is a great example of a pupil engaging in all of our resources; it makes such a difference to outcomes. The other interesting point about how Lottie did this was the way that she spaced her sessions out; turned out to be not just more convenient for her workload, but also very effective in terms of the learning.”
As is often the case with the “all-inclusive” course, Lottie picked up driving experience in many different towns/cities, even though she eventually ended up taking the driving test in Grantham. This is a crucial difference with the BIG TOM beginner course compared to other providers who only give a set number of hours of practice. The idea with all-inclusive is that it is just that, it includes driving in many different driving conditions. Lottie has gained experience in a wide variety of driving situations because in terms of driving competence and confidence, it is important that she builds layers of experience and inevitably this results in her being more prepared for safe driving after she passes her test.
